War Department Boundary Marker set semi-sunken in a stone wall in the inside of the former barracks boundary. Thought to have been inscribed W ↑ D / No 17 but has been effaced and moved. It marked the boundary of the former Bowerham Barracks (King's Own Royal Regiment, c.1873 to 1959), now a campus of the University of Cumbria. Milestone Society National ID: LA_WDLANC17em
