Cottages at Low Stott Park
The row of cottages opposite Stott Park Bobbin Mill. It is possible that at least part of this row was used to accommodate workers from the mill in the nineteenth century.

Stott Park Bobbin Mill
English Heritage had just finished restoring this and although they had had an "official opening", regular opening had not commenced. We had to resort to peering through windows to get a tantalising glimpse of the preserved steam engine by W Bradley of Brighouse. This is an amazing site and well worth a visit.

Stott Park Bobbin Mill, The Smithy
The small, detached building in the yard is the Smithy. It housed a hearth on the ground floor and had lofts, for drying the part-finished bobbins, above.
There was no blacksmith on the payroll at Stott Park. The bobbin turners used this building for maintaining their own tools and it is possible that a local blacksmith may have used the forge for larger tasks when needed by the mill manager.

Stott Park Bobbin Mill
From 1835 to 1971, Stott Park bobbin mill produced millions of wooden bobbins for the cotton and textile industries, and a host of other turned wooden products for many different customers. The interior Victorian and Edwardian machinery is still working.
