Milestone, Rainhill Stoops
Milestone on Warrington Road, Rainhill Stoops. By an Act of 1753, Prescot was turnpiked as far as Warrington making the road six yards wide with a gravelled surface which improved stagecoach services between Manchester and Liverpool, coaches to London began in 1761, the journey taking three days. Milestones were set up in 1754, as was a toll gate at Kendricks Cross.

St Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church dates from 1840. It is built of red sandstone in a very imposing Classical style in the form of a prostyle temple.
The church is designated as a Grade II listed building by English Heritage.

St Bartholomew's RC Church, Rainhill Stoops
St Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church dates from 1840. It is built of red sandstone in a very imposing Classical style in the form of a prostyle temple. The west end of the church has six massive fluted Ionic columns with frieze and pediment, with a tall central doorway under a portico.
The church is designated as a Grade II listed building by English Heritage.
