Elizabeth Road, Bootle
Here were rows and rows of Victorian terraced houses boarded up awaiting demolition. It's a cliche but there was a distinct ghost-town feel to the place, the silence punctured only by occasional eerie creakings and bangings. I don't understand the economics or the logic, if there is any, of demolishing houses like this.

Glynne Street, Bootle
Here were rows and rows of Victorian terraced houses boarded up awaiting demolition. A new Bellway housing development, on the site of a former tin smelting works. Old maps also show a lead works and tannery nearby - it must have been a pretty unpleasant area to live in!
