Dovecot Park
The trees originally surrounded the larger of two ponds which were linked by a stream-like channel. The first casualty was the attractive wooden bridge which spanned the “stream”. Presumably it was neglected until it became unsafe.

Dovecot Park, Liverpool
Built on the site of an ancient manor house called Dovecote House, this park is a sad shadow of its former self. Once boasting a lake and bowling green, it was once a proper park, now no more than a dogs toilet. Local children spent many a happy hour searching for tadpoles and sticklebacks in the lake and it is possible to see its outline by following the trees on the right which still lean at various angles towards the water.

Red Admiral in Liverpool
This Liverpudlian buddleia at least seemed to buck the reported national trend in butterfly decline, attributed in some quarters to the wetter-than-usual spring and summer of 2012.

Calvary Church
Built in 1938 this church was demolished July 2012, the building had been identified as having significant structural problems, made worse by several bad winters and a flood in the main hall which damaged almost all of the east side of the building. The cost of repairing the building was beyond the capability of the church. The congregation now use the smaller church hall to the rear of the site to which they hope to build a small extension.
