Initials of General Sir Alexander Leslie, St Drostan's Parish Church, Markinch
General Sir Alexander Leslie, Lord General of the Covenanter Army, bought Balgonie Castle in 1635. He was given the title of First Earl of Leven and Lord Balgonie in 1641 and died in 1661. He is buried somewhere in St Drostan's Parish Church. These initials are inscribed in the porch of the church, where it is now thought he was buried.

Haar around the Parish Church of St. Drostan, Markinch
Hazy evening sunlight shines through a haar (low fog) around the Parish Church of St. Drostan in Markinch, in Fife. The tower of the church is believed to date from as early as the 11th century. The view is from the nearby railway line. "I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" - Jesus (Jn 8:12)
