Surbiton Telephone Exchange (1)
Situated on the A240 Ewell Road, this building, which rather resembles a police station, was formerly a Manual TE until the 1960s when automatic working and Subscriber Trunk Dialling were introduced. It serves Surbiton plus Berrylands and Tolworth nearby. BT warning notices and vertical drainpipes can be seen on each side of this building. The postcode of this TE is KT6 6AB.

Surbiton Telephone Exchange (2)
Situated in Ewell Road (A240), this TE used to have ELMbridge numbers until the late 1960s, there being an Elmbridge Avenue in Surbiton. It now has 0208-390 and 399 xxxx numbers, plus some other Outer London numbers. The extension to this TE can be seen to the left of the photo. Besides providing telephone and broadband services to the locality, this building also caters for amateur boxing as seen by the blue and white board in front of the TE.
