The New Half Mile Tree
Quote from the sign beside the tree - "On this site stood 'The Elm' removed in 1951 due to its dangerous condition and replaced in 1952. Known Locally as 'The Half Mile Tree' and probably 500years old.

The Half Mile Tree
On this site stood an Elm reputed to be 500 years old and known as the Half Mile Tree, which was removed in 1951 due to its dangerous condition. It was replaced in 1952 with this Horse Chestnut tree.

Houses in the Lower Ham Road, Kingston
Houses here overlook the river, and the photo was taken from the river bank. The house in the picture stands close to the point where the road reaches the riverside - if you approach from Ham, that is. A few houses in the row have kept their original timber-work - the one in the picture being perhaps the least altered. The little house to the left appears to be a converted coach-house.
