Opened in 1900 by the South Eastern & Chatham Railway on the line from Purley to Tattenham Corner. View south east, the line soon curves sharp left towards Kingswood and Purley.

Royal Train returning empty from Tattenham Corner, Derby Day 1971
View northward towards Tattenham Corner: ex-SE&CR branch from Purley. The 'Royal Train' seems very diminished compared with earlier years - and the Queen would no doubt have been happier going home by Royal Car. The locomotive is Class 73/1 Electro-Diesel Bo-Bo No. E6013 (later No. 73107).
