Pre-Worboys stripy pole on Hazon Way, Epsom
The local council did not give these poles a reprieve, instead much of north Surrey sloshed grey paint on the stripy poles which is now beginning to wear off exposing the original baked on stripes. Yellow stripes were reserved for prohibition signs and extremely rare now as the great majority were the much commoner black and white stripes for warning and direction signs.

Retirement Apartments
These retirement apartments built and sold by McCarthy and Stone are typical of the retirement accommodation provided for old people that is springing up all over the country. These are in Waterloo Rd in the centre of Epsom just north of the railway station.

Epsom railway station, Surrey
Opened in 1859 with both the London & South Western Railway and London Brighton & South Coast Railways serving it as part of a network of lines which still exist. The joint station was rebuilt in 1929. View north east towards Wimbledon (left) and Sutton (right). See Image] for a similar view from 23 years earlier. The 1929 signal box shown in that image was demolished in 1992.
