Ruined wall of Chertsey Abbey
This wall was probably built between 1307 and 1346 when the abbey was substantially rebuilt. It separated the religious and domestic area of the abbey from its precinct of industrial and agricultural areas. The abbey was demolished following Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries. The wall has been restored recently, and a garden laid out around it.

Part of the extensive scheduled Ancient Monument area of Chertsey Abbey, the most obvious signs of which are now substantial fragments of moat and linear fish ponds. The open areas are mostly public. This runs to the south of the playing field on the site, and is dry despite a recent period of rain. Other parts are in water.
