Distance
1
Above New Haw Lock, River Wey Navigation
The navigation was built wide enough here, so it allows for moorings on the offside. Behind the photographer there is (but was not when the picture was taken) the M25 bridge, so in modern times there is a constant roar of traffic here. A bit further back is the junction with the Basingstoke Canal.

New Haw Lock is the fourth lock on the navigation. The lock house sits to the west, slightly below the lock. Compare with this picture by Dr Neil Clifton Image]

Descending New Haw Lock, Wey Navigation
Two boats share New Haw Lock as they descend towards the Thames. Whether the authoritative-looking figure on the bank is the lock keeper, I do not know.

New Haw Lock, Wey Navigation
Looking southwards, the 'turf sided' east side of the lock chamber can be seen. This lock lies at the end of the long straight section which leads past the junction with the Basingstoke Canal.
