Old High Kirk - Kilmarnock
The church was erected between 1731 and 1734 as a chapel of ease, on land given by the Fourth Earl of Kilmarnock. The steeple was added in 1740. The church was well known to Robert Burns.Its first two ministers were James Oliphant and 'Black Jock' Russell. John Wilson the Printer/Publisher of The First Edition of Burns' poems, is buried in the graveyard, as are the Tannock Brothers (Artist's). Thomas Morton, inventor of the barrel-carpet loom, is also buried here, as is Thomas Kennedy, inventor of the water meter.

Old High Kirk
23 arched windows by a 23 arched viaduct; the following description is from visitscotland.com. Church of Scotland Kilmarnock's oldest church building built 1732 of local stone by the Hunter Brothers to a design adapted from St Martins-in-the-fields, London. Austere exterior contrasts with pleasing interior enhanced by unique set of 23 stained glass windows by W & J J Keir, glaziers to Glasgow Cathedral. Graveyard with tombs including John Wilson, publisher of Robert Burns first book of poems.
