Kilwinning Railway Station
Kilwninning station is V-shaped having two platforms on the Ardrossan and Largs branch and two, seen here, on the Glasgow to Ayr line. The junction is on the right just beyond the ends of the platforms. A station here originally opened in March 1840 but the building seen here is a later rebuilding.

Signals at the end of the station platform
These signals are controlled by Paisley signalling centre. The Ayrshire lines were re-signalled and electrified in the early 1980s. The route ahead is to Glasgow while behind me the lines lead to Ayr. The lines from the left lead to the Port of Hunterston and Ardrossan.
