A purple orchid at Lossiemouth
I’m not exactly sure what species this orchid is but it was growing by the side of the B9040 opposite Moray golf course.
Update 04/08/16
This is a Northern Marsh Orchid (Dactylorhiza purpurella) - a common sight on roadside verges in the Highlands.
My thanks to fellow geographer Richard Dorrell for identifying this orchid.

Once a splendid restaurant, I am told, in Lossiemouth. It is now closed awaiting its fate. Excellent views above the 18th fairway at Moray Golf Club across the Moray Firth.
