I’m not exactly sure what species this orchid is but it was growing by the side of the B9040 opposite Moray golf course. Update 04/08/16 This is a Northern Marsh Orchid (Dactylorhiza purpurella) - a common sight on roadside verges in the Highlands. My thanks to fellow geographer Richard Dorrell for identifying this orchid.
