Henbit Dead-nettle (Lamium amplexicaule) with Ladybird
This is one of four species of Dead-nettle known in this area, and one I had never seen until it was pointed out to me. It will have more obvious flowers shortly.

Spring Vetch (Vicia lathyroides)
This is so tiny that I would never have seen it if it hadn't been pointed out to me. The flower is only a couple of millimetres long, and the leaves 5 - 9 millimetres.

Wild Rose Hips
With just one late flower. I can't be sure exactly which species this is, but it's probably one of the subspecies of Rosa caesia, the Northern Dog Rose.

Spynie Canal
Spynie Canal is about 7 miles long. It was built in 1808-1812 to a plan by Thomas Telford to drain the low-lying land between Elgin and the coast. It was damaged by the great floods of 1829, but rebuilt in 1860-1863. In the background here are some of the buildings in Lossiemouth, where the canal reaches the estuary of the River Lossie.
