St. Mary's church, Bildeston, Suffolk
This mainly 15th century church stands half a mile west of the village. Its one time lofty tower collapsed in 1975 and has since been replaced by this strange timber effort. There is some very fine work in this church and the south porch, in the picture, has some good flushwork.

St Mary Magdalene, Bildeston - Late 16th century Wade memorial brass
The words of the brass read “Here lyeth bvried William Wade of this pishe and one of the Heigh Counstables of this Hundred who had to wife Alice Boggis, by whome he had sixe children liveinge, at his decease, twoe sonnes viz William & Robert & fower daughters viz Alice, Anne, Joane & Mary, and died the XIX day of February 1599". The memorial to William Wade is set on the north wall. The brass figure of Wade was stolen at some point in the past, but the figures of his wife, Alice, and their children, are still intact, and the detail of their late Elizabethan dress is very revealing of the fashion at that time https://www.britainexpress.com/attractions.htm?attraction=4873
