Alms Houses at Hawstead
An inscription, just below the roof line, reads: "These Alms Houses were erected and endowed, for the benefit of the Aged, and Deserving, Poor, Anno 1811, by Philip Metcalfe, Esq."

Hawstead school house
Now a private dwelling. There is a date stone on the gable end to the right inscribed "Halstead School T.G.C. & A.C. 1849".

The former Hawstead Village School
Hawstead Village School was built in 1845 by the Church authorities and closed shortly after the Second World War. It is now a private residence. The building has a 'Y' shape; the 'tail' contained the single classroom and the other two arms comprised the school teacher's accommodation.
