Risby village sign
Most villages in East Anglia have their own village sign, this one in the Suffolk village of Risby being located on the green, and evidently dating from 1973. It has, however, been remounted recently - compare with Image

The thing that resembles a cheese grater is a depiction of the Anglo-Saxon/Norman church tower. The horse-drawn plough represents the agricultural heritage of the parish while the fruit represents its horticultural aspect. I can find no reference to the date 973, and was probably chosen to indicate a millennium of history.
