The former Bidwell Brewery warehouse was built in the mid 19th century in flint and gault brick with a front of five full height arched bays. It forms part of a complex of brewery buildings which includes a brewhouse Image and a Maltmaster's house. After brewing ceased at the site in 1924, the building became a bus depot. Later it was a commercial warehouse for Thetford Glass and was converted into apartments circa 2007. Now used as a warehouse, this is the former Bidwell Brewery, numbers 17 and 19 Old Market Street. Built in flint with gault brick dressings it forms part of a complex of brewery buildings which includes a warehouse Image and a Maltmaster's house. The brewery was a family-run business that was established in Thetford in 1710 and grew rapidly throughout the Victorian period. When it was sold in 1905 the business owned 105 hotels and pubs as well as malthouses and various other buildings in the town. The main Old Market Street brewery continued to be known as Bidwell's Brewery until 1924, when it was sold to Bullard's. At the narrowest point of the street, the former brewery (the carpet warehouse) faces the old gaol. Both of flint with gault brick dressings, the Thetford trademark.

From assize days; plaque says it was enlarged in 1816. Now a private property.

The Old Gaol, numbers 4 and 6 Old Market Street, was built in 1796 on the site of an earlier gaol and enlarged in 1816. Constructed in flint with gault brick dressings with the south gable wall rebuilt in yellow brick in the 20th century. It functioned as a prison until the 19th century and remained in use as a police station until 1936 when the ground and first floor were converted into two houses. The top floor was converted into flats in the 1980s and many original features have been retained including the barred windows. Numbers 8 and 10 Old Market Street are a pair of late 18th century houses built in flint with gault brick dressings and a 19th century refronting in gault brick. There is a cellar which is apparently much older. The houses were converted into four flats in the late 20th century. The bowed display window is early 19th century.
