Bruisyard village sign
The star of this sign is Saint Clare, founder of the Order of the Poor Ladies which was later renamed the Poor Clares following her death. The order had an abbey - which was previously the Rokes Hall manor house - in the Suffolk village until the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII. Today the hotel and wedding venue Bruisyard Hall stands on the site and uses some elements of the original building. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2277464

Bruisyard Hall - Barn
This barn was built due to the increased demand on the agricultural system during the Napoleonic wars when grain imports ceased. This particular section housed stables, pulley grooves can also be seen. It has been restored internally to a very high standard for events such as weddings and meetings. The finishing touches are being added by builders. The work started in February 2011, before it was occupied by owls. See http://www.bruisyardhall.co.uk/page/bruisyard-barn.

Former Stables
These buildings (like a former dairy) are derelict. However with the restoration of the barn nearing completion and the house next it is hoped these will one day be of use. They may be simple common buildings but they are part of the history of the site. Please note the site is private without arrangement. Photography with permission.
