A view along High Street as it climbs towards the white-painted "The Arboretum" pub. This 'new' museum building was opened in 1881 to house an expanding collection first begun in 1846. Crown Street (the A1156) lies at the other end of this road, behind the photographer.

Ipswich Art School
The premises of the Ipswich Art School are run as an exhibition space by Ipswich Borough Council https://www.ipswich.gov.uk/services/ipswich-art-school. It closed as the Art School in the 1990s when the department moved to the Suffolk College campus at Rope Walk (now Suffolk New College).
