Saxstead Green Postmill - Stones
These two stones are overdriven via the wind. The brake wheel, wallower and two stone nuts can be seen here. The mill still turns although it doesn't grind, this is the reason for the safety mesh.

Saxstead Green Postmill - Tentering Beam
A view of the 'modernisation'. Originally there would have been no governor but around the 1800s this technology was added to save the miller time. The governor (bottom right) was spun via a shaft connected to the shaft upstairs. This meant the governor spin reflected the speed of the mill. The centrifugal effect of the balls moved the 'iron yard' up or down and thus the tentering beam (white bar in this photo). So the small adjustments reflected the distance between the stones, maintaining the coarseness of the flour.

Saxstead Green Postmill - Steam/Oil Mill
During windless periods the miller could do nothing, the roundhouse was increased in size and an extra two stones were added. Driven externally by a steam engine and later by an oil engine. Image
