With yuccas, beach huts, fairy lights and a pier, (not to mention attractions not visible in this picture), Felixstowe has all the makings of an English seaside resort.

Autotest car at the Spa Pavilion turn round, about 1965
This mini roundabout is still there, where the sea front comes to a dead end at the Spa Pavilion theatre. Today the beach is narrow and stony. Memory says the beach at that time was wide and sandy, but the photo says otherwise.
The specially built autotest car seems to be suffering severe understeer. I believe the driver is the wife of the owner, the person who ran the garage in Kelsale, Suffolk.
