House or telephone exchange?
In the 1930s the Post Office was responsible for the telephone service. Most of its buildings in the inter-war years were in the neo-Georgian tradition, a few from an older domestic tradition. At first view this building resembles a piece of domestic architecture rather than a telephone exchange. It dates from 1939, and I am wondering whether this is the work of architect Frederick Allen Llewellyn who designed similar buildings in Dagenham Image], and West Drayton Image

Woodford Green Broadway
The growth of Woodford Green started with the arrival of the railway in 1856 (now the Central Line tube). The handsome parade of shops at the Broadway, opposite the station, is now a Conservation area. The small green in front was named Pankhurst Green in 1995 after the writer and campaigner Sylvia Pankhurst (daughter of the suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst) who lived nearby from 1924 to 1956.
