House or telephone exchange?
In the 1930s the Post Office was responsible for the telephone service. Most of its buildings in the inter-war years were in the neo-Georgian tradition, a few from an older domestic tradition. At first view this building resembles a piece of domestic architecture rather than a telephone exchange. It dates from 1939, and I am wondering whether this is the work of architect Frederick Allen Llewellyn who designed similar buildings in Dagenham Image], and West Drayton Image

Edwardian post office, Woodford Green
The Post Office no longer executes its business here - nowadays it is a Royal Mail Delivery Office. Nevertheless a splendid example of Edwardian post office architecture built 1904-1905 to the designs of architect Jasper Wager of the Office of Works.

Woodford Green village sign
Essex villages traditionally have village signs; Woodford Green (really a London suburb) recently acquired its own. The Green is part of the ancient Epping Forest and is the oldest village cricket field still in regular use. The sign depicts significant local images; cows grazing on the Green as of long tradition; Sir Winston Churchill, for many years the local MP (his statue shown in Image is at the far end of the Green); cricket and the church.
