Snow on Middleton Gardens #1
On 2nd February 2009, six inches of snow fell on Middleton Gardens. This is a view of my front garden, taking looking north-northeast towards the A12 Eastern Avenue.

Snow-covered tree
This is the same tree that had the pavement around it tarmaced a few weeks ago. Today it is looking more beautiful than it ever has done covered from branch to trunk in snow!

Fog at night #2
This is the view looking in the opposite direction - south-east in the direction of Ilford. Once again, the streetlamps give a rather interesting effect - this could possibly be a scene for a horror or fantasy movie!

An hour or so later...
About an hour later, this is what is left of the tree - a small neat stump, and a lot of sawdust! A sad end to a sight that has been there for as long as I can remember!

Tree Cutting on Middleton Gardens
After hearing a lot of noise outside, I looked out the window and found that the large tree at the bottom of the road was being cut down, presumably because its roots were causing cracks in the pavement and making it very dangerous for pedestrians to walk along. White lines have been spray painted on the pavement by the tree right outside my bedroom window, so something tells me that this is not the only tree that will be felled! View taken from my bedroom window looking south-southeast down Middleton Gardens to the junction with Milton Crescent.

Snow on Middleton Gardens #3
This is the view looking in the opposite direction (north-northeast) to http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1456504. Note how you can barely see the kerb - this will certainly cause a few accidents with pedestrians not knowing where the kerb is, although the cars parked with their wheels on the kerb do give them a clue!

Snow on Middleton Gardens #2
This view was taken further up the street to http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1456487 and looking northwest up Middleton Gardens towards Gants Hill. Note that the snow almost completely covers the cars!

Tower Blocks in Gants Hill
This is a much improved version of my shot of the tower blocks in Gants Hill from my bedroom window, taken using the 15x optical zoom on my new Sony H50 digital camera. The tall building on the right is the 12-storey City Gate House, whilst on the left, clearly marked by cranes, is the new block of apartments being built on the former Odeon site.
