Ilford North Telephone Exchange (1)
Located at 279 Cranbrook Road (A123), this TE used to have VALentine numbers until the late 1960s. It now has 0208-518 and 554 numbers, plus some other Outer London numbers. The wording "TELEPHONE EXCHANGE" can be seen above the entrance door, although "Telecom Building" might be a more accurate description these days. "Telephone Exchange" might give an indication that it is a building where one can exchange a mobile phone, although, of course, that is not the case. Its postcode is IG1 4TL.

Taken from The Drive near Cranbrook Road, this photo shows a side view of the TE with mobile phone aerials on the roof. Above the BT Openreach van can be seen a blue painted double-door where the phone equipment is hoisted through using the metal jib above it.

Cranbrook: Valentines Park clock tower
This view was taken looking across the boating lake in Valentines Park towards the clock tower, which was built in 1899 on the opening of the park. A plaque on the clock tower commemorates that it was presented by W. P. Griggs Esq. At its opening the park was known as Cranbrook Park, as witnessed by the plaque, but the name was changed in 1907 to register its association with the nearby Valentines Mansion.
