Longbridge Road
T107 on the 87 route to Becontree Heath passes Faircross Parade. Compare the Co Op opposite in this 1980 view with the current one where a bright green facade has been added to the balcony above the store.
T107 is a Leyland Titan with Park Royal bodywork. The Titans were brand new at the time - this one had been delivered in December the previous year - and were replacing the Leyland Fleetlines in the area.

Barking bus garage, main frontage
The garage opened in 1924 and is currently operated by the East London subsidiary of Stagecoach. This shows the main access to it from Longbridge Road.

The end of an era ? 1979
This was the very last London Transport RT bus to operate in public service, seen pulling into Barking Garage at the end of its last journey.
The RT was introduced in 1938 and was the epitome of the standard red London bus. The last examples were built in 1954, so those that lasted to the end were at least 25 years old, an unusual longevity with a single operator.
This particular vehicle, RT624, was actually built in 1948, although with the London Transport overhaul regime it is difficult to know exactly what of the original bus was represented 30 years later. As befits its historic status as the last of its kind in service, it has been preserved, currently (2022) by Ensign Bus, where it is available for hire.
