A Pair of Dogs
The picture is of Station Parade Longbridge Rd Barking. A dozen or so years ago everyone knew where you meant when you said "I'll meet you in the Barking Dog".
There was only one dog and that was the spotted one in the background with the half timbered gable end. When Wetherspoons opened their new drinking emporium in the retail unit below the office block Tim Martin cheekily named it "The Barking Dog" causing confusion for a while. However the two hounds seem to get on fairly well these days.

Carrying Coals to Newcastle?
47278 heads an eastbound train of cars into Barking station, towards Dagenham (home of Ford). Under the bridge the nearest set of rails can be seen climbing a flyover that carries London Transport's line over British Rail's

CO Stock at Barking
A District Line train made up of CO stock departs Barking for Ealing. The design is 1935 vintage. All were withdrawn in the early 1980's as new trains were delivered for the District Line.

Slam Door Stock
Services on the London Tilbury and Southend Railway from the 1960's to the early 1990's were handled mainly by class 302 Electric Multiple Units. I believe that 244 was unique in having this type of cab - picking up a spare car from another class of EMU following an accident. The others had flat fronts. Behind the unit can be seen a train of Hammersmith and City stock waiting in the bay platform.
