Heptonstall is a village high above Calderdale, famed for its quaint appearance and also for this octagonal Methodist Chapel.

War memorial at Heptonstall Methodist Chapel
"To the Glory of God This Tablet WAS ERECTED IN HONOUR OF THE YOUNG MEN OF THIS CHURCH AND SUNDAY SCHOOL WHO SERVED DURING THE GREAT WAR. 1914 - 1919"
The names of fourteen men who died are included at the bottom, behind the wreaths.

Doorway at Heptonstall Methodist Chapel
From stairs leading down from the gallery. This is one of two doorways into the chapel that replaced the original door of 1764, possibly when the chapel was extended in 1802. This is not now the main entrance.

Former entrance to Heptonstall Methodist Chapel
This would have been the original doorway into the octagonal chapel which was built in 1764.The chapel was enlarged in 1802. At some point (possibly the 1802 rebuilding), two new doorways were created, one to either side of the original doorway, with a window being added in place of the original door.
