Hebden Royd Path 54.Mytholmroyd
Here the path was in danger of becoming overgrown but has been cleared. The right-of-way is straight, alongside the wall, but paths tend to acquire gentle curves.

Hebden Royd Path 44 (Scout Bottom Lane), Mytholmroyd
This lane was made when the school was built. On the 1850 six-inch map the access track to Scout Bottom from Scout Road was further to the east. It must have been very steep. It seems to have completely disappeared.

Progress at the Scout Road landslip site, Mytholmroyd
This road was closed for a long time (see
Image) but is now open, with temporary traffic lights. The fallen trees have been removed and the hillside above the road trimmed and covered in sheeting, presumably to contain any asbestos that might have slipped down from the tip, or perhaps just to prevent erosion due to rainfall runoff.

Scout Road, Mytholmroyd, closed due to a landslip
I came here out of curiosity after reading a traffic incident report of a road closure causing moderate delay - a slight understatement! I found out later that this is a major landslip on a hillside below woodland containing a former asbestos tip. A school has been closed and fifteen houses evacuated. The closure does not even allow pedestrians to go through.

Hebden Royd Path 61 in Hathershelf Scout Wood, Mytholmroyd
Not quite as bad as it looks - you can easily walk through the young Himalayan balsam plants, watching out for nettles. I was not aware that the path has been closed due to its proximity to an asbestos tip.

Here the path is along a broad track. I was not aware that the path has been closed due to its proximity to an asbestos tip.

This does not appear on any old maps, so must be a recent creation.
