The new Tuel Lane Deep Lock No 3/4 has been completed. The work was of such complexity and interest as to attract an official visit from the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Tuel Lane Deep Lock under construction
In April 1994, work had commenced on digging the chamber of the new Tuel Lane Deep Lock No 3/4 which would reconnect the eastern end of the Rochdale Canal with the rest of the waterway system

Yellow bike on Rochdale Canal
There are hundreds of these yellow bikes dotted along and close to the route of the 2014 Tour de France that starts in Yorkshire. This one is off the route by the side of Tuell Lane Locks (3 and 4) on the Rochdale Canal in Sowerby Bridge.
