Half way up Steep Lane

Burials and blueberries
The burial ground of Steep Lane Baptist Chapel has large clumps of bilberry plants growing. This is a plant that grows naturally on heather moorland in the region.

Steep Lane Baptist Chapel, south end
The chapel, and its attached schoolroom to the rear, were built in 1873/74 and it is the third chapel on the site. It was a 'Particular' Baptist chapel, see Image for the inscription over the entrance. The buildings are listed grade II (list entry 1134482) as are the walls, railings and gate piers (1186034). See Image for the schoolroom.
