Clay pipe works from the canal towpath, Southowram
This view of the pipe works (see also other photo) shows how rural its location is. There are many (presumably) scrap pipes in the surrounding woodland, an eyesore to us but perhaps useful shelter for animals!

Road closure on the A6025, Southowram
The road is closed from Ash Grove Fireclay Works to a point to the east of the first houses in Elland. There has been subsidence, and cracks have appeared in the road surface. A narrow way has been left for pedestrians. This has required a long length of fencing, so we should be grateful. However the way through is not wide enough for cycling.

Crack in the surface of the A6025, Elland
This is one of the cracks that have caused the long term road closure, It has been sealed, but I suspect that this is only a temporary measure and that more extensive works will be necessary.

Park Road, Elland, after repairs
This road started to subside in February 2020 after heavy rain, and was closed. Two years later the repairs, which included many piles connected by a concrete beam, have been finished and the road re-opened.
