Stony Croft Lane at Stainland Road
Stony Croft Lane seems to be a field access track as it does not lead to a farm of that name. It ends after crossing Sandyfoot Clough, although maps from 1850 up to 1963 or later show a track over a field to Wood Royd.

Barkisland Hall
This is at SE061199. The more successful of the local families became gentry and built large stone houses in the 17C. This is one of the finest, built in 1638 of three storeys with a rose window (not visible in this photo). The large mullioned and transomed windows made up of many small lights are typical.
