Houses on the urban fringe, Northedge Lane, Hipperholme
here formed the boundary between Hipperholme UD and Norwood Green & Coley CP in Halifax RD until 1937, when both councils were absorbed into the borough of Brighouse. Houses were built up to the boundary of the urban district, but the land remained as fields in the rural district, and this situation has lasted another 70 years, presumably because a green belt has been imposed.

Footpath 7/3 at Northedge Lane, Hipperholme
The official path goes to the right to meet the road near to the road junction, but the path in the foreground is signed and meets the road opposite the continuation of the path towards Winteredge Hall (The old name was Upper Winter Edge).

Footpath 7/3 on a quarry track, Hipperholme
I found the path across the valley difficult to follow accurately, especially as there was snow on the ground, but having reached this track I was relieved to see the footpath gate ahead, through the gate the path is fenced off from the quarry track.
