here formed the boundary between Hipperholme UD and Norwood Green & Coley CP in Halifax RD until 1937, when both councils were absorbed into the borough of Brighouse. Houses were built up to the boundary of the urban district, but the land remained as fields in the rural district, and this situation has lasted another 70 years, presumably because a green belt has been imposed.
