The Old Cock, Halifax
This is a genuinely old pub with a courtyard in the centre of Halifax. The Grade II listing (list entry 1254004) describes it as ‘Early C17, very much altered’ and apparently only the second-floor function room retains any 17th century furnishings, but that is not usually open to the public.

Looking out from Old Cock Yard to Southgate. The building on the right part of the Old Cock public house (although the shop fronting Southgate is a branch of Greggs bakers).

The Cat and Fiddle, Cheapside, Halifax
This pub was originally the Golden Lion, but over the years earned the diminutive nickname "Brass Cat", and by the 1980s that was its advertised name which it still bore as late as 2009 Image Now the lion reference has gone but the feline has acquired musical tastes. it is now a "sports bar, lounge, grill and kitchen" rather than a traditional pub. Subsequent note: it was closed and boarded up when I passed in February 2021.
