Cleveland Street, Hull
The view dominated by the Energy Works facility, which will shortly start the processing of waste to produce heat and electricity. In common with other such plants, emotive words like 'incinerator' are studiously avoided in favour of terms such as 'single fluidised bed gasifier feeding a boiler and steam turbine generator'. It is funded in part by a grant of almost £20 million from the European Regional Development Fund.
