Sutton House was built 1770s by Richard Howard, merchant of Kingston upon Hull. In the 1950s it was occupied by the York Diocesan Association for Moral Welfare. By the 1970s it was used by Kingston upon Hull City Council's Social Services Department. The house was derelict by 1977. It was purchased by the Bradford & Northern Housing Association in 1989 and converted into a residential home for the elderly.
