Union Street, Kingston upon Hull
Former stable block and adjoining bakery cart shed, now workshops. Late 18th century with late 19th century alterations, restored late 20th century. These stables were probably ancillary buildings to the home of Richard Baker, a tobacco merchant who was involved in the development of this area in the late 18th century. The New Clarence, Nos. 77 & 79 Charles Street, at the junction with John Street, was so-named as it replaced the 'old' Clarence public house that was located further along the street. Looking south towards Jarratt Street.
