Sykes Street, Kingston upon Hull
The former Charterhouse, a good vernacular inspired public house with an
unusually wide frontage and narrow depth. Constructed by George Houlton & Sons for the Hull Brewery Co. in 1936 to replace The Grapes Inn, first recorded in Sykes Street circa 1806 and demolished late 1935.
Since 2012, the former pub has been enjoying a new lease of life as a halfway house for young homeless people in the city, after having been acquired by the Hull Resettlement Project.
