Beverley Town Trail: Medieval Guilds and Crafts
The Beverley Town Trail, officially opened on 11 July 2010, depicts 39 medieval guilds and trades. Chris Wormald, the lead artist, has produced images in bronze and steel, and engravings in stone. No.37: Locksmiths. The text on the wall, Outer Trinities, appears to be part of the proverb 'Love laughs at locksmiths', meaning 'Love will find a way', from Shakespeare's 'Venus and Adonis'. Apparently I should have sought a padlock, representative of one of the Viking era found on this site. On my to-do-list to try again.
