The building dates from the late 18th century, and the Masefield family legal firm has practised here since 1840. The poet John Masefield (1878-1967) was a member of this family.

This Grade II listed building https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1157339?section=official-list-entry is named 'The Cloisters', and is occupied by Masefield Solicitors. Ledbury born poet John Masefield is a relation. To the right is the spire of St. Michael & All Angels' Church.

Herefordshire half-timbering 4 - Ledbury Market Hall, Herefordshire
Another example of Herefordshire half-timbering, quite prevalent in this county. On the right, just visible is Ledbury Market Hall, standing on (or was) 16 pillars of Spanish chestnut beside the present-day A449 Malvern – Ross on Wye Road. Thanks to Tuppence and Mark Anderson for identifying this photo from the past. The slide is imprinted with the date May 63, which seems improbable and due to the rather dark day I will date it to December 1962. Time photo taken not available. Image
