Former Cottage Hospital
Built by Mr Michael Biddulph MP at a total cost of land and buildings of around £3,000. Opened in Ledbury by his wife, Lady Elizabeth Biddulph, on 29 December 1891. Accommodation included three wards, an operating theatre and a mortuary. The cost of running the hospital (£247 in 1899) came from subscriptions, donations, income from investments, charity boxes, church offertories and patient payments. The building was extended in the 1920s and again in the 1930s. From 1948 the Hospital was taken over by the NHS before it closed in 2002. A one million pound refurbishment resulted in eight business studios and six 1 or 2 bedroom apartments. The studios are used by young entrepreneurial businesses including a software company, a photographer, a bio-technology company, a designer, and a Pilates Studio. http://www.ledburyadt.org/page.asp?PageRef=45

Former Cottage Hospital, Ledbury - Renovations begin
Work has started on the refurbishment of Ledbury Cottage Hospital and the first occupants are scheduled to move in by early 2009. It is hoped that the finished space will attract local, young entrepreneurs setting up businesses in the creative industries. In addition, there will be six affordable, shared equity apartments for people from in and around Ledbury.
