Sufton Court (Viewed from Mordiford Bridge)
Here is the most delightful Georgian house you can get with the best views in Herefordshire, which is Sufton Court, standing on a tall hill with its surrounding countryside. Sort of stands outside the village of Mordiford.

Sufton Court, Mordiford
Set in a park by Humphrey Repton, who submitted his Red Book in July 1795, Sufton has been the home of the Hereford family since the 12th century. Built of Bath stone, rather than local sandstone, the house was designed by James Wyatt and finished in 1789.

Sufton Court, Mordiford
Built for James Hereford in 1788-89. Five bays and three storeys, the projecting central bay pedimented and including a Serlian window. The glazed porch was added in 1871. Faced in Bath stone, not a common material in these parts. There is some doubt about the architect. James Wyatt has traditionally been credited. In his 1979 book on the Wyatt dynasty, John Martin Robinson attributed it to James; in his 2012 monograph on James, the house is not mentioned. Ditto Colvin. Pevsner is inclined towards James, but notes that Anthony Keck is a plausible candidate (or may have been on-site executing James's design). Grade II* listed. Closer view: Image
