Franklin Barnes Building was built to a 1950s design; it stands on the corner of Blue School Road (the Inner Ring Road) and Commercial Road. The architects were Cecil Corey and Harry Bettington. Franklin Barnes was a garden supplies business and florists. The sculpted stylized flower by Trevor Worton is representative of the business.

Franklin Barnes (Hereford)
My camera couldn't zoom in any further as 20x, so here is the Franklin Barnes building, which is the tall building in the centre-left, viewed from the bell tower at Hereford Cathedral. Its future might house the new Hereford University.

Major road junction in Hereford
Here the A438 and A465 cross; straight on is Blueschool Street, right is Commercial Road, and the camera position is in Bath Street.
The Franklin Barnes building centre left is a good example of late 50's early 60's deco.

Franklin House, Commercial Road, Hereford
By Cecil Corey, c1965, and a decent example of post-war architecture. From the higher central block extend long low ranges along both Commercial Road and Blue School Street. The green-tiled centre has a niche for a sculpture (which doesn't show up in this picture - see
Image]).
Currently offices of Herefordshire Council.
