Old Milestone by the A40 in Beaconsfield
Carved stone post by the A40, in parish of Beaconsfield (South Bucks District), London Road; beside Cricket Ground, opposite junction with Burnham Avenue, on a bank, under hedge behind path, on North side of road. Beaconsfield diamond pillar, erected by the Beaconsfield & Stokenchurch turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- : Uxbridge / 8 : : London / 23 / - / Oxford / 32 (painted on) / - / Wycombe / 6 : Rivet benchmark on top. Grade II listed.
